The implementation of effective energy efficiency measures in enterprises is a key element to reach Europe’s energy and climate targets 2030. Enterprises account for approximately one third of Europe’s energy consumption. Improving energy efficiency in enterprises therefore contributes significantly to the decarbonisation of the European economy and the achievement of the climate goals, while at the same time increasing competitiveness and reducing costs.
CApacitating Energy efficiency in Small Alpine EnteRprises
PROJECT AIM AND OBJECTIVES
CAESAR project aims at addressing the potential of energy savings in Alpine SMEs by providing designed tools and solutions to companies, energy tutors and energy agencies.
Establishing a EUSALPS network of key stakeholders for “energy efficiency in SMEs”. The network will create and cultivate the cross-sectorial, transnational platform for Energy Efficiency in enterprises, through which the exchange of best-practices and experiences will take place.
Setting-up benchmarking model for energy efficiency of SMEs. The model will define the KPIs and the benchmarks for the main economic sectors of activity. Target groups are primarily SMEs and energy auditors, but also trade associations and independent experts.
Creation of auditing tool for assessing energy efficiency of SMEs and defining measures for improvement. This tool will provide all EUSALP Regions with a common, ready-touse and proven recipe to assist SMEs in moving step by step towards the successful implementation of energy efficiency audits. The principal output of this action will be an Excelbased tool supporting a step-by-step implementation of energy audits in SMEs.
Training of energy tutors and awareness-raising among SMEs and intermediate bodies. The capacity-building sessions will be designed for to-be “energy tutors” and will be focused on the use of the newly developed auditing tool.
CHALLENGE
Large companies are already obliged to conduct energy audits to determine energy saving potentials. SMEs, and especially very small enterprises, are often put off by a lack of knowhow or fears of excessive costs/concerns about the quality of the audits. CAESAR project aims at addressing the potential that lies herein.
